| Description: | Once a design had been completed, it was put onto a sheet of heavy paper and individual tesserae were glued to it. “Here you see one of the boys, actually. We gave them each a jar of this material [a special glue made of gelatin, glycerin and gum Arabic], and a little brush, and they would actually just put this paste on the paper and press the mosaic into it” (Gunther, Ariel.
