Description: | The job of the “glazier” was to assemble the various elements of a stained glass window using pieces of lead. “Here we see the glazier, actually putting the pieces of glass together with a lead…first the [paper] pattern is put down on the bench, and the glass is glazed right over the original pattern, so that each piece fits where it’s supposed to be” (Gunther, Ariel. Transcript of Bryn Athyn glassmaking lecture. Raymond and Mildred Pitcairn Archives, Bryn Athyn, Pennsylvania). |
