“Adam” and “Eve” were not the names of actual people, but the names used to designate the Most Ancient Church generally (DP 328). The church called Adam was the most excellent of all the churches on this earth (AE 725). More specifically, Adam was the name of the first, and most perceptive, of the three particular churches that made up the Most Ancient Church (Adam, Seth, and Enosh) (AC 483, AC 502).
