Title:Men posing beside a Bryn Athyn Cathedral tower carving
Source:Raymond and Mildred Pitcairn Archives, Bryn Athyn, PA
Date:circa 1919
Medium:Postcard
Description:

An office employee and two workmen pose beside the carved head of a lamb on the tower scaffolding. "These heads were carved in place from blocks of stone set rough-hewn . . . The four heads centered on the facades [of the tower] are the beasts of the Apocalypse who worshipped at the throne of the Lamb [Revelation]" (Glenn, E. Bruce. Bryn Athyn Cathedral: The Building of a Church. Bryn Athyn: Bryn Athyn Church, 1971. Photo caption, p. 110). "John Walker" is written on the back of the postcard identifying the man on the left. John Walker worked as an architect and superintendent on the cathedral.
