Ancient Churches Lexicon Entry:

Melchizedek

Back to: Lexicon Index | Lexicon Home

In ancient times, kingship and priesthood were combined in the same person in order to represent the fact that good and truth are joined together in the Lord (AC 2015). Melchizedek was a person in the Ancient Church in whom these two offices were joined together; he was both the king of Salem and the priest to God Most High (Genesis 14:18, AC 6148).
