Ancient Churches Lexicon Entry:

Circumcision

Back to: Lexicon Index | Lexicon Home

The people of the Most Ancient Church knew nothing about circumcision (AC 4462). But circumcision did exist in both the Ancient Church and in the Second Ancient Church founded by Eber, called the Hebrew Church (AC 4444). Males of the Ancient Church were circumcised to represent that a person should be purified from the love of self and the love of the world (AC 2632). From the Ancient Church the rite of circumcision spread to many other nations, including the Israelites, although this nation did not know what the rite represented (AC 4462).
